A Growth Story

ComputerSalg began as a retail store on the streets of Zealand, but when e-commerce started gaining momentum, they quickly joined the movement. They built their own shop from scratch with minimal external help - and it’s been growing ever since. First into new product categories: Today they sell everything from dog food to men's fragrances. Then they expanded their workforce, now employing over 100 people and several robots at their warehouse in Ringsted. And finally, they’ve grown internationally, now serving 3 million customers across the Nordics and Germany.

A Frontend for Your Backend

The story of ComputerSalg is one of pioneering spirit and determination. They coded the shop themselves from the ground up and have continuously developed it. No external shop components are used, but since 2010, Hesehus has acted as a hybrid team for ComputerSalg. Our collaboration has primarily focused on designing and creating the frontend, making the shop more cohesive and intuitive for customers. The advantage of this setup is that ComputerSalg’s internal IT team has been able to steer the shop’s development as they wish, while having extra resources available during peak hours. They’ve also gained access to knowledge and experience - especially from our frontend developers, where system development moves extremely fast. Today, the frontend is built into a design system that not only fits ComputerSalg.dk but also smaller sites like GR88.dk, which has branched off from the mega-store.

An Efficient Collaboration

The collaboration around building the frontend has been marked by simplicity and mutual understanding. Our developers quickly got to know ComputerSalg’s business - both commercially and down to the code level. This is crucial when building solutions for a company that ships hundreds of thousands of packages annually. It means ComputerSalg has booked us for exactly the tasks they needed help with - both the small fixes and the larger projects. That’s why the hybrid model works so well, where we’ve developed the entire frontend and other features in collaboration with ComputerSalg’s internal team. Together, we’ve found great solutions and built an e-commerce platform that reaches all the Nordics - and it’s scalable for when ComputerSalg enters the next market.

B2B or B2C – You’re Still the Same

At ComputerSalg, commerce is key. Good prices, accessibility, and reliability are crucial for customers - whether B2B or B2C. In fact, ComputerSalg makes little distinction between the two types of customers, since ultimately, it’s the same people who are buying - the only difference is whether they’re at work while doing it. All essential B2B features like multi-user accounts and multiple baskets are of course available on the site, but the core user experience remains the same. The design system and frontend support this, so the small but important differences stand out clearly for users shopping for themselves or their colleagues.

ComputerSalg.dk attracts many customers from price comparison portals because they offer sharp prices.

The Best Prices

ComputerSalg.dk attracts many customers from price comparison portals because they offer sharp prices. These great prices come from smart trading. ComputerSalg are experts at securing good deals with suppliers. Together, we’re now automating that process with ComputerSalg’s new Supplier Portal, which works like a reverse auction house. Here, ComputerSalg posts orders - e.g., for 100 iPhones - and suppliers can bid with their best delivery price. This allows ComputerSalg to automate their procurement management while giving suppliers a portal that makes it easy to get an overview.
